LB Contributor @ace_woe Publishes Frontpage 'Genius' Article About TDE's MackWop, Kendrick Lamar & J. Cole

February 7, 2019

It's been over a month now since I got my first Genius article published on the front page, but it feels like yesterday that I crawled out of bed at 11:45 PM on New Year's Day to put it together. I spent all of 2018 grinding on Genius, building my "internet-clout," in hopes that I could finally be published in 2019. I never expected that my goal would be achieved on January 2nd.

For anyone who follows TDE's @mackwop or his YouTube channel "Mackwop TV" – you probably know that his clips aren't exactly... easy to follow. Lucky for us, he made it plain-&-simple for everybody when he live-streamed a new video on New Year's Eve, titled "TDE Affiliate MackWop Says He’ll Push Kendrick Lamar & J. Cole To Drop Songs Together In 2019."

Pretty straight-forward.

I was literally in bed, ready to pass out, when all of a sudden YouTube fed me the inspiration I needed to get the fuck up and put pen-to-paper, so-to-speak; MackWop's video auto-loaded onto the screen as soon as the Joe Rogan Podcast clip that I was watching finished. I honestly feel like this was an act of God. I read the video title, I watched Mack's lips moving in virtual slow-motion as he mouthed the magic words to the title of my eventual article, and something deep within me said, "If you write it, they will come." So I threw on some pants, fired up the laptop, and wrote the goddamn thing.

Actually, what I did was sign into Genius, open up several Google tabs, watch the video a thousand times in the background, and just knock out all the research necessary to produce a solid article. Four hours later, I submitted the pitch and went to bed. Four hours after that, I woke up from my slumber and – BOOM – it was on the front page. Just like that. I gotta thank my mentor and legendary Genius staff member @ewokABdevito and Genius writer @Chris_Mench for communicating with me throughout the process and ultimately publishing the piece.

It means the world to me.
